The new contract for the construction of vertical cores from the HL-LHC galleries to the LHC tunnel has been signed, following an invitation to tender that was launched early this year. A Swiss consortium of experienced firms – GeoEdil, Ennio Ferrari, and TerraCH – has been entrusted with the execution of the works, which will involve the drilling of 28 cores: 14 at Point 1 and 14 at Point 5.
